02. About me

Well … lets start in the beginning … I was born in the Frere Hospital (can you imagine?) in East London on the 19th January 1980. I spent my playschool days at Play Ways in Berea and was then off to Stirling Primary. In primary school I played rugby, hockey, swimming and the fool.

When choosing high schools I decided on Selborne college where I had the best years of my life. I evaded school sports at all costs until Mr. Gunn forced me to play Rugby and Cricket starting in grade 10, which in hindsight was the best thing ever. During my 9th team “Marmites” days we only lost 1 match to Grey Bloem. “Cake” league cricket was a slightly different story.

After highschool it was off to PE Technikon (now Nelson Mandela University) to study Information Technology for 4 years - I completed 3 years at the East London Campus and my complete my honours degree in PE.

During my final year of studies I decided that I wanted to head “overseas” and get some international experience and found a position in Charlotte, NC in the US as a IS Analyst at AKsys USA, Inc. The company is a manufacturer of products for the Automotive industry. After 3 years with the company I was promoted to IT Manager and have been here ever since….

From a hobby/sporting side I spend considerable amounts of time on my motocross bike, surfing, bodyboarding, snowboarding, coding, or buggering around.

I have been married to my beautiful wife Kate for the past 2 years and we were married in Hogsback. We have 3 cats (Schmegal, Kronk & Ed) which we have rescued from all over the show.

Some of my favorite places in the world include Port Alfred, Charleston (SC), Home (EL) and my other home (Belmont, NC).
